Rote Hagnauer Bush Bean Seeds

$4.00

A German heirloom bush bean, of very nice production. As traditional heirlooms around the world have begun disappearing from home gardens, these beans at one time could only be bought at the “Museumsfeschtle”, a local historical association in Hagnau on Lake Constance. Luckily, seed savers are now working to make sure this regional variety is preserved. These beans are the basis for the dish “beans and spaetzle”. It’s a variety for dry use and it’s a beauty – a dark pink base with burgundy flecks. I tend to grow more poles than bushes so I’m always surprised when I come across a bush bean that can produce this well. It is a slightly later maturing bean. Rare. 2023 seed. 15 seeds in a packet.  Gratefully received from the wonderful collection of Artur Kobylecki, Kielce, Poland.
