Petit Carré de Caen Pole Bean Seeds

An historical European heirloom bean from Normandy, France. This bean has such a detailed history it would be a disservice to include all the info in shortened form, as the details are online. But this bean was once somewhat of a superstar In Normandy, dating as far back as 1844. The name translates, funnily enough, to ‘small square’ of Caen and the beans are sort of like tiny little white squares. It was considered one of the greatest snap beans of all time, and was offered by the seed company Vilmorin-Andrieux in the late 19th century. An heirloom with a remarkably intact history. Beans can also be used dry. Early maturity. Rare. 2023 seed.
