Mummy White Shelling Pea Seeds

A new pea for 2023 – and this was one of my top favourites. Tall 6 foot vines are covered in bright white, big flower blossoms that are carried atop multiple branching crowns, or what is technically called ‘fasciation’. Multiple clusters of blossoms are all over the vines, and the vines are remarkably productive as a result. The pods themselves are small, but the peas inside are excellent & very sweet. Another interesting tidbit about this variety is its purported history and the reason for its name – some claim these peas were found in the 1800’s inside a Sudanese mummy casing, others say they were found in an Egyptian funeral urn. Whatever the case, they were brought to England in the 1800’s and have been grown ever since. Magnificent pea. Rare. 2023 seed.
