Kärntner Secherslein Pole Bean Seeds

$5.00

The Kärntner Secherslein pole bean refers to a variety from the Carinthia (Kärnten) region of Austria/Central Europe.  It’s a wax bean with a curved shape like a horn, called a ‘kipfler’ type bean in Central Europe.  I believe this variety may have entered seed saving circles through Sortenwerkstatt in Austria, who received a young plant at a market. According to the Sortenwekstatt website: “This variety originates from Villach and was traditionally grown in gardens everywhere. Classic curved shape, yellow…Later, only the dried beans can be used.”   Medium productivity in 2025.  Very pretty burgundy flecked seeds.  20 Seeds/packet
