Garafal Oro Pole Bean Seeds
$5.00
A wonderful old Spanish heirloom, particularly Valencia, where it goes by the name ‘Garrofó Oro‘ intended for use as a green snap bean. Pods are deep green, flat and thick. These types of beans tend to be some of my favourite green beans, and because life can be a comedy, I also find them some of the hardest to save seeds for. I always get them to dry down, but it’s often cutting it close. However, even though this was a pole bean it’s the first of its kind that I’ve grown which not only dried up early but the seeds were all totally perfect – no rough skins, no bumpy seeds. A fabulous romano variety AND not hard to save seed for. The seeds were actually lovely freshly dried (the seeds I planted were light brown with oxidation) coloured a taupe-y pink and quite large. I highly recommend this bean. Rare. Gratefully received from the wonderful collection of Chris Hoetschel, Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
