Dow Purple Pod Pole Bean Seeds

This was one of the best purple beans of 2024, tied perhaps with ‘Muotathaler’. The production was incredible, and the quality of pods very, very high. I had read reports that it was one of the fastest growing beans in the world, and I’m tempted to believe that is actually true. The speed with which the vines grew was astounding, and unlike many beans I grow, it was direct seeded. Phenomenal bean; there are several imposters of ‘Dow Purple Pod’ out there – these are NOT romano style pods, these are traditional beans and more similar in type to pencil pods. It looks like there is a very limited number of places in North America offering the true variety. It is said to originate in the state of Illinois. 2024 seed.
