This Swedish 100+ years old heirloom bean is dated to 1915, and is attributed to ‘Mother’ (or ‘Mor’) Kristin who lived in a small cottage outside Kisa, a town in the Swedish province of Östergötland. A neighbour of Mother Kristin’s who married, was given some of these beans as a wedding gift. The lady continued to grow these beans all her life. Eventually these seeds found their way into seed saving circles from there to Sweden’s ‘Fröuppropet’ project, a project in the early 2000’s to inventory and preserve traditional heirloom varieties. And the rest is history! Just goes to show that a simple sharing of seeds with others can really be the step it takes to protect them from disappearing! Gratefully received from my seed saving friend Gabriella! 15 Large Seeds/packet
