Youdou #1 Pole Bean Seeds

A rare bean from China. This may just be the most unusual pole bean I’ve ever grown – the pods are super wide, bright green and about 1/3 the width of the palm of my hand. Super tender & meaty. There is some variability in the length of the pods but they can grow fairly long too, up to about 8 inches. This is a chunk of meat bean for use as a snap. It is apparently a popular bean in Northeast China. Pods dry down with splashes of magenta on the pods, and fully dried they are thick, leathery and rough but very easy to shell. Wonderful and unique bean. 2023 seed.
