Tunny Pole Bean Seeds

$5.00

A bean for dry use, with mysterious origins.  Beans & Herbs UK offers this bean and it appears nowhere else that I can see.  The word ‘tunny’ however has a long history, which is interesting. It’s an old English word for the Atlantic bluefin tuna.  It’s a very old food and trade term, appearing frequently in medieval English texts, port records, and cookery books.  Tunny is also a rare but historically documented surname in the UK.  Regardless, Tunny is a very nice, heavily yielding dry bean.  It has a very early maturity and dries down easily here in Sudbury.
