An old pea climbing pea that was Introduced by Sutton & Sons in the early 1950s. The variety first appeared in Suttons seed catalogues around that time and was noted in horticultural circles soon after. This pea won an Royal Horticultural Society First Class Certificate early in its life as a variety, which is a testament to its qualities! As a heritage variety, it was saved by seed stewards and later appeared in collections like the Heritage Seed Library, which preserves older and rarer vegetable varieties. A 1954 catalogue states: “A distinct type and possesses many superb qualities…a quality pea both for culinary and exhibition purposes.” Delicious shelling pea, grows to 6ft. 20 seeds/packet.
