Royal City Cannery Pole Bean Seeds

$4.00

This was a bean I was not especially curious to sow, as I don’t can beans. But I’d had the seed for awhile and they needed to be planted so I finally did get to them in 2024. However, once I saw the pods I was seriously impressed – they were so long and big, really something for a canning bean at almost a foot long. Excellent eaten freshly steamed too! I’ve since read that the Royal City Cannery of New Westminster BC canned these from 1912 until the plant closed in 1930, surprising since I’d guess most modern canned beans are bush varieties for mechanical harvest. I purchased these from Eagleridge Seeds in BC, this bean is not carried by many sellers indeed. Really nice bean! Rare. 2024 seed.
