Rote Keibitzbohne Pole Bean Seeds

A European heirloom dry bean, considered to be a ‘minestrone’ bean for soups. Plants are quite tall and high yielding. Seeds are beige and flecked in maroon, shaped like big marbles. I believe the name translates to ‘red lapwing’ and may be a nod to the meaty nature of this cooked bean, much like the way turtle beans are named as such owing to their perceived heartiness similar to turtle meat.
