This variety was developed by the German seed company Kruger Seed Company in Lübbenau, Germany, before 1860, making it a genuinely historic European heirloom. William Woys Weaver, garden & cookbook author, donated this bean to Seed Savers Exchange in 2004 where it has been preserved since. I received these from my friend Russ Crow in Woodstock, Illinois. Likely this is a dual purpose bean, eaten young as snaps and mature seeds used for soup beans. I had some animal challenges in 2025 with it for the second time so I have only a small amount of seeds. I will offer bigger packets when I regrow it. 15 Seeds/packet
