A snap bean, presumably an Appalachian variety though I’m not 100% sure. I can’t seem to find much information on this bean, I received it from the enormous collection of Russ Crow in Woodstock, Illinois. I did not try these as I had only a small sample to grow out, but given the name it’s possible this is a string bean – a type said to be more flavorful than the modern beans bred to be stringless. The plants are ridiculously productive, and will have you up to your knees in beans all summer. Rare. 2024 seed.
