Amish Gnuttle Semi-Runner Bean Seeds

$4.00

Old American heirloom bean, semi-runner growth type. Was sold as early as 1802 by Bernard McMahon. Has been preserved in southeastern Pennsylvania among the Amish farmers where it goes by the name ‘Gnuddelbuhn’, which translates to the rather charming description ‘turd bean’. Don’t let the name put you off though, it’s a nice dry bean. Seed is an unusual squarish shape with garnet red seeds that have beige to light grey speckles. Very productive plants, excellent food security variety.
