An heirloom bush bean from Croatia, the name translates to ‘Slavonian Green Bean’.   Slavonski is derived from Slavonia, a historical agricultural region in eastern Croatia) and ‘zeleni’ meaning green.  ‘Slavonski Zeleni Grah’ appears on the Croatian official variety list as a registered low‑growing bean cultivar with registration number 1006484.  It has been included on national lists for seed production and trading, and is considered a traditional local variety rather than a modern hybrid bred for commercial agriculture. It has been grown in family gardens and small farms in Slavonia and continental Croatia for generations.   A dual use bean, pods eaten when young and mature seeds are collected for soups.  Received from the wonderful bean collection of Russ Crow, Woodstock, Illinois.
