Octarora Cornfield Pole Bean Seeds

$4.00

An heirloom bean that seems to be shrouded in a bit of mystery; it’s a rare variety and there ins’t much out there about it. However, according to Russ Crow’s website ‘A Bean Collector’s Window’, this bean has been grown for many years by the Quakers of Sadsbury, Pennsylvania in Chester county which then could – possibly – make it a Lenape or Susquehannock variety pre-1840. A bean for dry use, it was recently grown out by Resilient Seeds who states that this is one of the few beans they’ve tried that can grow on the small varieties of corn more Northern gardeners tend to grow. Seeds are medium sized, beige and flecked in a darker brown. Rare. 2024 seed.
