Mrs. Fortune Pole Bean Seeds

A European heirloom from England. Mrs. Fortune refers to the name of Doris Fortune who received this bean from the head gardener at Windsor, she then passed some seeds onto the Heritage Seed Library in the U.K. The description at HSL describes them as the most reliable beans in their entire collection and I would have to agree. It is very quick to produce beans for a pole and also very early to dry down, I was quite surprised. The pods are green and heavily splashed with purple, growing in a gentle crescent shape. Apparently they make a good green bean as well as dry bean, though I haven’t tasted them green yet.  2022 seed.  Gratefully received from the wonderful collection of Artur Kobylecki, Kielce, Poland.
