Mauchlebohne Pole Bean Seeds

$4.00

A nice description of these from ‘Tatgut Historical Varieties’: “A variety found on the island of Reichenau with a strong bean flavor and speckled seeds. This bean has been kept by a family on Lake Constance for more than 100 years and can be used as a dry bean or young as pods. The light brown speckles of the oval-spherical purple seeds remain when cooked. The plants grow to a good 2 m tall, bloom light purple and have many 20 cm long, slightly curved pods. The variety was previously grown in Meersburg and was discovered as part of the “Variety Detectives” campaign run by the Genbänkle association.” Rare variety! Produces very well in Northern Ontario. 2024 seed.
