Lippoldsberger Weisse Perle Pole Bean Seeds
$4.00
An heirloom bean from Lippoldsberger, Germany. This bean appears to have been bred by Ludwig Watschong, and dates as far back as 1927 or even earlier. A fantastic variety which, apparently can be eaten both green as well as used as dry beans, though I haven’t eaten them green yet as I only had a very tiny sample of 5 seeds this summer. A very vigorous variety, pods are not large and as they dry the pods suction to the beans. They are remarkably easy to shell considering they have this trait, and the dried pods are not stiff either. The dried seeds are small, round, white and very shiny – hence this variety’s name of ‘White Pearls of Lippoldsberg’. Wonderful European bean. 2022 seed. Gratefully received from the wonderful collection of Artur Kobylecki, Kielce, Poland.
