Jing Orange Okra Seeds
$4.00
Very robust and healthy okra variety, producing bright burgundy red pods in abundance. Not sure why it’s called orange, it’s not even close. A Chinese variety that did very well here in northern Ontario. Plants were quite compact (though I’ve read they can get large in some conditions) and they gave their first pods early in the season. The plants themselves were very ornamental, particularly because the flower blossoms look very much like hibiscus flowers or ‘Rose of Sharon’ flowers. Pale yellow petals reveal like a hand of poker cards in perfect overlap. The flower centres are a deep, dark burgundy colour and the stems and branches of the plant are burgundy as well. Such a striking specimen. An online gardening pal in the Deep South (U.S.) was astonished how fantastic my plants looked compared to hers in June! Now that is a fantastic okra! 2021 seed.
