Green Savage Pole Bean Seeds
$4.00
An American heirloom snap bean from the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station in Baton Rouge, released in 1949. As far as pole green beans go, this variety was outstanding and the texture was phenomenal. I was sceptical about growing it, considering I’m up here in Northern Ontario and this bean has very Southern origins. But nope, it did amazing and a bean growing friend in Illinois reported the same fantastic growth and production. I’m so glad I decided to try this variety out, because it’s a real keeper. 2022 was not a fantastic bean year for me, but there were a few varieties that just seemed to blow through all the challenges like nothing and even be super producers. This was definitely one. I collected an impressive amount of seed for a bean bred for use as a snap. I have no idea how this variety ever fell out of favour in the seed marketplace. 2022 seed. Gratefully received from the wonderful collection of Russ Crow, Woodstock, Illinois.
