Friese Woodboun Bush Bean Seeds

As a small space gardener who does not grow a lot of bush beans, due to yield per square foot considerations, it takes a lot for me to fall in love with a bush bean.  But this one really caught my attention.  Seriously excellent yields. This is a traditional variety from northern Netherlands (Friesland). It’s a locally preserved dry bean grown for generations, and now part of heritage cultivation projects. Its excellent adaptation to northern European weather and challenging growing conditions makes it a perfect choice for the North.  The well known ‘Frisian Yellow Forest’ Bean (Giele Waldbeantsje) that has been adopted onto the Slow Food Ark of Taste was selected from this landrace by Jurjen de Jong of Sumar.  For dry use.  Many thanks to my friend Nadine for sending this one to me!
