Broughton Astley Pole Bean Seeds

A new bean sent to me by a generous grower in Washington state. Pods are speckled green and purple and can be eaten when young, and also be used as a dry bean. The bean originates in the village of Broughton Astley in England, where it has been grown in allotment gardens for over 40 years. This bean’s performance in 2023 was stellar; it was planted late, had some shade during the late afternoon and still managed to produce an excellent crop of beans. Apparently, this variety is tolerant to less than ideal bean growing weather. Rare. 2023 seed.  Received from generous grower Jack Halloway of Salem, Oregon.
