Blue Rubbon Bush Bean

A romano bean that is green with purple splashing on the pods. An excellent, high quality snap bean. Meaty and delicious. Not many romanos I’ve tried are splashed with purple, they typically are green though there are one or two yellow and purple coloured ones. This bean played a role in my becoming a bean seed saver as well as collector. Several years ago at a Seedy Saturday event, the local hort society was handing out these ghastly looking dried things. I’d never seen a dried bean pod before – dried pods of ‘Blue Ribbon’. I kept it around for some reason and decided to empty it out in spring and plant what I found there.  2022 seed.
