1,500 Year Old Cave Pole Bean Seeds

$4.00

Old heirloom pole bean for use dry. Said to have been discovered in a pitch sealed clay pot in a cave in New Mexico, with carbon dating that revealed its age. Not sure how true this is, but it makes for an interesting bean name. Vines are tall and loaded with pods containing beautiful burgundy and white marbled seeds, bovine in appearance. Seed can be soil sensitive and express more or less burgundy in varying soil fertility. Rare in Canada. 5 plants produced over 1 lb of dried beans.  Gratefully received from the wonderful collection of Artur Kobylecki, Kielce, Poland.
