It’s a bit of a tough call, but I think that this was probably the most stellar pepper of 2025 with ‘Red Belgium’ & ‘Nomad’ very close behind. Considering that Odessa is a bigger pepper than the other 2, it’s remarkable the plants can yield as many peppers as they do. Sweet, big, productive. ‘Odessa Market’ is another grass roots seed saving triumph. Picked up originally in a market in Odessa, Ukraine in 1965 and brought to Nebraska the seeds were eventually offered in the 2001 SSE yearbook by N.S. Trumpeter. Now they are fairly well known in North America. I checked the frost free days in Odessa and they are almost exactly the same as here in Sudbury, so it makes sense why they do so fabulously! I usually pinch annual pepper plants at least once but failed to this year, so that I was still able to get so many peppers is remarkable.
