Quatre au Metre Pole Bean Seeds

This bean is such a jaw dropper to me – the pods on the vines look very much like ‘yardlongbeans’ which are cowpeas, a different species – but they aren’t.  This is a true common bean variety, the standard pencil pod type, but bred for extraordinary lengths up to a foot.  Unfortunately, I cannot find any information about where it comes from or how it originated.  But it is such a unique variety of bean, very unlike anything I’ve seen for this type of pod.  Makes a great snap bean.  20 seeds per packet.  Rare.
