A special variety I received many years ago from my Mandy’s Greenhouse. Mandy collected a wide range of vegetables that did well in her Manitoba climate and ‘Red Belgium’ was one of those. Typically one of the earliest to mature in my summers, the fruits are sweet, delicious and abundant. Fruits are slightly conical shaped with thick walls. Really fabulous production, with a tolerance for less than ideal weather – it was in fact bred for the cooler, damp summers of northern Europe. This pepper was selected and developed by Belgian and Dutch small farmers and market growers. Excellent variety for the North.
