Rat Tailed Radish Seeds

Purple pods compose most of the gene pool. A type of radish that grows above ground, and the immature, long, tail shaped pod is eaten instead of a root. Also goes by the name ‘Serpent Radish’ because of the pod shape. I prefer these to in ground radishes because the flavour is a bit milder, and the pods are juicier and fresher tasting. They also cook up nicely, though they can’t be too mature or they become too fibrous. Pollinators are drawn to their flowers like a magnet. If kept well picked they can go all summer long, unlike ground radishes. To save seeds, you have to stake the stalks because they grow to 4 feet and tend to flop over. Plants will throw the odd green pods, I rogue those ones out. 2022 seed.
