I believe this is a snap bean, and it is a mega producer. Three plants collapsed the pole (which was actually a small, de-limbed tree) with the weight of the beans. The seeds are gorgeous too, a deep purple\/navy with slight cream flecks. Seed shape is a bit like jelly beans. I thought this bean was absolutely fantastic and was glad that I gave it a shot given I had no information about it other than it was collected by that wonderful seed hunter Joseph Simcox. The name doesn&#8217;t seem Italian to me, but I can&#8217;t help but wonder if this may be an Italian variety as there are a few famous &#8216;shrimp&#8217; beans (crescent podded) that Italy is famous for.
