Here’s a full disclosure – of all the beans in my long list, this is the latest bean of all of them. I don’t have many in a ‘very, very late’ group but this one definitely is. It is a Catalan bean sourced from a preservation group in Spain, where it’s also known as Fezol Ros, Red Tavella, Red Hazelnut Bean, <\/em>or Fat Grogueta.<\/em> My understanding is this is a bean for eating fresh. The pods dry down with hot pink splashing on the pods. If you’re interested only in trying a rare heirloom green bean from Catalonia, the lateness of this bean might not be an issue for you. For seed savers, this one is a challenge in my North location. But! Even I managed to dry down the whole 12 ft+ plant! So, possibilities abound. Extremely rare. 2023 seed. There may be some dark bean humour hidden in the name, since ‘facciosa’ translates to ‘facetious’.\u00a0 Gratefully received from the wonderful collection of Artur Kobylecki, Kielce,
